I am contemplating writing an article that delves into the most profound paradigm shift currently unfolding - one that transcends the typical short and long "Dalio-ian" cycles.
The premise is this: roughly every decade, we witness a pivotal innovation and a consequential technological shift. These are often characterized by the emergence of new platforms, such as Web1 in the 1990s, Web2 in the 2000s, and smartphones in the 2010s.
Parallel to these developments, there exist General Purpose Technologies (GPTs), falling into what are known as "Kondratiev Waves". These technological shifts occur approximately every 50 to 70 years and have historically included transformative innovations like the steam engine, electricity, and more recently, ICT.
However, the technological metamorphosis we are currently experiencing surpasses these classifications. While it satisfies the criteria for both categories, it represents something entirely novel and unprecedented at a societal level.
