Throughout various stages of Stack's growth, I, as the COO, took on the responsibility of creating effective systems, or what I often referred to as "Conveyors". I implemented these conveyors for a variety of tasks, including content creation and SEO, customer support, and even hiring. While these frameworks were visually appealing, they were also incredibly efficient in their operation.
However, an important lesson learned was that when given a specific KPI as a milestone without a more holistic goal in mind, the outcome might be achieving the set KPI but still falling short of the overall goal. A case in point was when our SEO team was tasked with producing a certain number of articles per month and increasing monthly website traffic to a specific KPI. While they excelled at these tasks, the articles produced and the keywords we ranked high on didn't translate into an increase in downloads.
There is much more that can be told about this story which is actually also quite fun, so I am planning to write an article about it.
